Coming
Attractions In World Affairs
Perspective by Jack Kelley

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against
the LORD and against his Anointed One. "Let us break their chains," they
say, "and throw off their fetters." (Psalm 2:1-3)
At the prophetic level, the results of the recent US election make perfect sense.
Think about it. The Bush Administration's vision for the Middle
East was a string of robust democracies from Lebanon to Iraq with leaders chosen
in free elections enjoying the popular support of newly prosperous citizens who
after generations of oppression feel like they're finally in control of their
own destinies, and who desire nothing more than to live at peace with their
neighbors. You can almost taste the sense of freedom and dignity they'd
all enjoy. Kind of like the US was sixty or so years ago.
If President Bush had been able to maintain the loyalty of his
allies abroad and the members of his government at home, we'd be well on our way
to making such a beautiful dream come true.
But where would that have left us in the prophetic scenario? No leader,
no matter how charismatic, could gain the traction necessary to take over the
world in those conditions. God's plan for the End of the Age, already in motion,
would have been set back a generation or more.
No, the President's vision, no matter how attractive, failed to take one major
factor into consideration. It's not what the Lord had in mind. So
once again, a leader who professes a relationship with God has forgotten the chain
of command. God is not on our team. If we're careful and humble enough,
we sometimes get the chance to be on His, but as soon as we start calling the plays
ourselves instead of taking His direction, He'll bench us just like that.
It's been said that on several occasions the White House has
hosted well known prophecy scholars to get a sense of what the Bible says about
the End Times. It's also said that the President and his closest advisors
are so steeped in Replacement Theology that they treat Israel's situation as a
mere political problem, not a Spiritual one, and therefore have totally missed
the message of prophecy. I don't know how true those statements are, but
it sure looks like they could be.
"For my thoughts are not your
thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD (Isaiah
55:8)
I can understand them charging ahead over the objections of Islamic
leaders, who would pay any price to prevent another free democratic society in
their midst. That's a classic battle between good and evil. But to
fly in the face of clear prophecy that calls for increasingly frequent wars in
the Middle East that will soon blossom into a nuclear exchange before finally
involving the whole world is another story. How does one reconcile a string of
thriving western style Moslem democracies with that reality?
So
the Lord had to throw a monkey wrench into the works to get their attention.
It wasn't hard, not with the amount of pride and arrogance on display in
the halls of government today. I'll bet that Satan didn't even need a
personal conversation with the Lord like He did with Job. A quick text
message is probably all it took to get permission to step in and mess things up.
The cut and run scenario already fashioned by our newly elected
Congressional leaders is just what he needs. According to the
intelligence and news services I read, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and
others have begun implementing their plans for life after America's now certain
departure from the Middle East. These services also report that the US
and Iraq both know that Iraq's government will fall and the country will be
split up into several autonomous regions, probably along Sunni, Shiite, and
Kurdish lines. That King Abdullah of Jordan has spent the past several
months in seclusion with his troops preparing them to guard their border with
Iraq against the attempt he knows is coming to topple his government next.
That the Saudis know their days may be numbered, too. That Israel
is planning for another war with Hizbollah within six months and knows that
Syria will line up against them too. That the Lebanese government will
likely fall and be replaced by one loyal to Hizbollah. That Israel's
Asst. Defense Minister has promised to prevent Iran going nuclear "at all
costs." That Russia's intention to become the dominant player in the
region is made clear by recent actions in Syria and Lebanon that we've already
covered. (See Isaiah 17 Countdown.)
So, with the
dismantling of the Bush Middle East Strategy things will soon be back on track.
I know that I sound like the worst kind of negative thinker according to
world standards, but we have to realize that God is well into the process of
bringing His own peace plan to fruition in the Middle East, and His plan is by
far the best. The Bush plan, like all the other plans before it, was
actually a hindrance to God and would have the effect of delaying the very thing
it was designed to produce. A lasting World Peace. The reality
that all of man's plans have tried unsuccessfully to avoid is that it's going to
take one more really horrific war to get it. God harbors no such
delusions.
"I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the
intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." (1 Cor. 1:19)
Those
who disagree with students of End Times Prophecy call us defeatists, but we're
actually on the side of victory. They want man to solve the world's
problems because that way they don't have to depend on God. Depending on
Him makes them responsible to Him, and in their view that's something to be
avoided at all costs.
They don't realize that man is not equal to
the task. History shows us that the 20th century can be characterized as
a century of war interrupted by brief periods of peace. Each new war has
been made necessary by man's failure to address the problems created in the
previous one. Now, in the 21st Century, only God can solve the world's problems
and until we realize that, things will only get worse.
Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of
the Gentiles are fulfilled. (Luke 21:24)
With the recapture of Jerusalem,
the Times of the Gentiles are over. God has promised to step back into the
picture now to resolve His issues with both Israel and her enemies so that peace
can follow, and although it sounds counter-intuitive, sidelining America removes
a major obstacle to that goal. America has been too powerful an ally of
Israel's to leave any room for God to work.
America's decline
must continue until Israel's enemies no longer fear any US opposition to their
efforts to destroy the Jews. As soon as that happens, they can attack and
God can insert Himself into the equation on Israel's behalf.
As
Christians we need to remember that the only Earthly nation promised a place in
God's Kingdom is Israel. Obviously there will be others around, but
Israel will occupy center stage. America has been blessed only because as
a people we've been on God's side, not because He's been on ours. But
those days are over. There is simply no Biblical reason to believe that
God has favored America with a role in End Times prophecy. For if God's
own nation Israel could be cast adrift for disobedience, how much more so a
nation that is not his.
In the absence of Israel, the church has
been God's kingdom here, not the USA. American believers get confused
about that. And even the Church has been characterized as aliens in a
foreign land. Our homeland is in the New Jerusalem, not Earth, and soon
we'll go there while God completes the restoration of both His nation Israel and
the planet we've nearly destroyed.
The LORD says to my
Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your
feet." (Psalm 110:1)
Meanwhile, as believers, we're neither Republicans
nor Democrats, but Monarchists awaiting the return of our King. While we
wait we need to fight for the values we uphold in a climate that's becoming more
hostile to these values by the day. That means supporting anyone we can
find who espouses them, and just as importantly, not supporting those who don't.
And when those we've depended upon betray us, as they will, we have to
hold them accountable. It's a losing battle, fraught with disappointment,
but it's only for a while.
And don't forget. We're part of
the problem too, because we've become way too comfortable with the ways of this
world. Remember, we're supposed to be in the world but not of the world.
For those with one foot in the world and one in the Kingdom, the next
little while might be pretty frustrating since it will require increasing levels
of compromise to get along.
It's long past time for us to stop
depending on our paychecks, our government, even our constitution for our
security, and start looking to the author and perfecter of our faith again.
He's the only one you can neither leave nor lose. He's the only
one who is faithful and true. And He's the only one who has promised to
see to our needs. Even so, come Lord Jesus. 11-11-06
Two trains
on a collision course
by Michael G. Mickey
Oct 13-2006
In Bible
prophecy we're told of a future invasion attempt that will take place against
the nation of Israel in the last days. We commonly refer to this event as the
Gog-Magog invasion or attack. It is described in Ezekiel 38 & 39 and will
see the following nations gather and descend on Israel "as a cloud to cover the
land" (Ezekiel 38:16):
Gog - Most agree this is a reference to Russia.
Meshech - Most associate this with modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia, but
some say it refers to the Moscow area.
Tubal - Most associate this with
modern day Turkey, ancient Anatolia.
Persia - modern Iran
Ethiopia
Libya
Gomer - eastern Europe or Turkey
Togarmah - southeastern
Europe or Turkey
In today's commentary, I want to highlight an opinion
article featured in The Daily Star by former German Foreign Minister Joschka
Fischer entitled "Turkey and Europe: two trains about to collide." Particularly,
I want to discuss how what Fischer believes may take place is more than likely
going to occur, leading us closer to the prophesied Gog-Magog invasion attempt
to come.
In this commentary, I'm going to use a number of excerpts from
Fischer's article, which will appear in italic type, and then comment on his
insights as they may relate to Bible prophecy.
Fischer wrote:
By
intervening in Lebanon, Europeans have made a far-reaching, risk-fraught, and,
at the same time, correct decision. The reason is that the future of Europe's
security will be determined in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Europe, whether it likes it or not, has taken on a new, strategic role in the
region. Should it fail, the price will be high.
In Bible prophecy, we
find that a revived Roman empire will exist in the last days. One does in the
form of the European Union - a 25-member coalition of nations that will grow to
27 members in January of 2007. This revived Roman empire, which the prophet
Daniel tells us in Daniel 7:23 will devour the whole earth, is growing so
quickly (and quietly), that many in Europe fail to realize what a monstrosity it
has become, as seen in an EUBusiness.com article that indicates only 23% of
Europeans, on average, know the EU is comprised of 25 member nations.
As
Fischer points out, many in the EU believe the future of Europe's security will
be determined in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East. As such, the EU
has taken on a new strategic role in the region - one of peacekeeping, which
places us closer to the advent of the Antichrist as described in Daniel 9. I
want to set that matter aside, however, as this commentary, as noted earlier, is
dedicated to demonstrating how present trends are leading us toward
Gog-Magog.
Fischer wrote:
Safeguarding Europe's interests today
means establishing a strong link - indeed an unbreakable bond - with Turkey as a
cornerstone of regional security. So it is astonishing that Europe is doing
exactly the opposite: firmly closing its eyes to the strategic challenge posed
by Turkey.
Successful modernization and democratization of Turkey - with
a strong civil society, the rule of law, and a modern economy - will not only be
hugely beneficial for the country, but will also export stability and serve as a
model for transformation in the Islamic world. Above all, the successful
modernization of a large Muslim country will make a decisive contribution to
Europe's security.
Fischer believes the EU needs to establish an
unbreakable bond with Turkey as it could lead to a transformation in the Islamic
world yet, in his own words, he is astonished by the fact that the EU isn't
doing that. To be sure, as we see in his own words, he thinks it's a big
mistake. The next two excerpts of Fischer's opinion article are separated by a
number of paragraphs, all of which are interesting, but I want to place these
two side-by-side as they paint a picture of where I believe we're swiftly headed
in relation to the EU's relationship with Turkey.
Fischer wrote:
This autumn, the European Commission is scheduled to issue a progress
report on accession negotiations with Turkey. A dangerous situation may well
emerge, as this report threatens to derail the whole process.
............
And what perspective would Turkey have outside the
EU? Pan-Turkish illusions? A return to the Orient and to Islam? None of these
will work. But Turkey will not sit idly on Europe's doorstep. Europe's attitude
is pushing Turkey toward forging alliances with its traditional regional rivals:
Russia and Iran. These three powers, each of great importance to Europe, have
been rivals for many centuries. So an alliance between them would seem a near
impossibility. Yet Europe seems bent on achieving the impossible, to the
Continent's detriment.
Tensions, as I've reported on a number of
occasions, are running very high between Turkey and the EU in relation to
Turkey's EU bid. It has never once bothered me that was true because, as we look
at the players to be involved in the Gog-Magog attack listed above, there seems
no chance whatsoever that Turkey is going to gain entry into the EU. As we look
at Bible prophecy, we see that these two lovebirds don't seem to have a future
together, as I noted extensively in a commentary in April of 2005 that looked
back as far as 2004. Two full years later, things are no better than then. In
fact, as the title of Joschka Fischer's article suggests, Turkey and the EU
appear to be two trains ready to collide. If they do, the whole EU-Turkey
relationship is going to derail, "pushing Turkey toward forging alliances with
its traditional regional rivals: Russia and Iran."
Turkey, Russia, and
Iran allied? Who would've guessed THAT would ever happen? The prophet Ezekiel,
for one.
Keep looking up, Christians!
The prophetic scenario is
becoming more clear by the day and you know what that means!

Is Turkey Changing Sides?
Perspective on the news by Jack
Kelley
In the Qandil (Kandil) Mountains, where Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and
Syria all meet lies the ancestral homeland of the Kurds, known in history as the
Medes, who were partners with Persia in defeating Babylon.
The Kurds call
this area Kurdistan, but the land they refer to technically belongs to the four
neighbors mentioned above, none of whom want to give it up. Turkey is
perhaps the most determined, having suffered numerous terrorist attacks at the
hand of the PUK, a group of militant Kurdish separatists. One of the
reasons that Turkey refused to help in the current war in Iraq is that the USA
refused to deny the Kurds a voice in governing post-war Iraq.
Turkey has
been legitimately afraid that in return for Kurdish assistance in deposing
Saddam Hussein (it was the Kurds who located Saddam and tipped off US troops)
the US would permit at least unofficial attempts to establish a Kurdish homeland
on land that Turkey claims. Turkey has maintained up to 20,000 troops on
its border with Iraq to prevent such a move.
And in fact the US has been
vacillating on the Kurdish issue, even publishing a map of the region showing
the presence of a Kurdish entity. US officials later claimed it didn't
accurately reflect US policy. Turkey is skeptical.
Iran sees this
situation as an opportunity to further strengthen its regional position and has
teamed up with Turkey to assist in removing a force of 5000 PPK soldiers from
the area where Iran abuts Iraq in the Qandil Mountains. According to
several news and intelligence sources they already have positioned troops some
7-8 km inside Iraq and have begun shelling the mountain hideouts. The
situation for Turkey offers some big incentives. Not only do they get
help in spanking the PPK, but have made it known that they have their eye on
Kirkuk, an Iraqi city in the area that produces 40% of Iraq's oil output, and
that Turkey had made claim to before.
For its part Iran also sees
a chance grab a chunk of Northern Iraq for itself. In addition Iran wants
to destroy forward intelligence positions the Israelis may have secretly placed
among the Kurds to help them receive the earliest possible warning of an Iranian
attack on Israel. Knocking out these posts would give the Iranians two
significant victories against the Israelis within the span of just a few months,
the war in Lebanon being the other. The loss of this intelligence would
no doubt reduce the possibility for a successful US-Israeli attack against Iran,
too. Russian and Iranian intelligence experts are both predicting such an
attack before the end of 2006.
Many observers believe it's already too
late to stop the Turkey-Iran initiative. The question is whether it will
blossom into yet another Mid-East war pitting the US, Iraq, and Israel against
Iran, Turkey, and possibly Syria.
Students of prophecy should follow
these developments closely. Turkey is felt by most to be a modern component
along with Armenia of the Beth Togarmah mentioned in Ezekiel 38:6. We've long
said that as long as Turkey is aligned with the west Ezekiel 38 can't happen.
Bringing Turkey into the Moslem alliance against Israel would remove one
more roadblock to its fulfillment. There aren't many left.
EU's
Solana to attempt a revival of Middle East peace efforts
by Michael G.
Mickey
(9-1-06)
According to Easy bourse news, the European
Union's foreign policy chief, Dr. Javier Solana, will be touring the Middle East
"in an attempt to revive stalled peace efforts and rally support from Arab
nations."
Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja is quoted in the
article as saying, "Javier Solana has the mandate ... to move forward with the
peace process and present us with new ideas necessary." Not only that, Tuomioja
is quoted as saying Solana is "in contact with all parties that are
relevant."
How about that, prophecy watchers? Recently, author Joel
Rosenberg wrote a paragraph on his website that is really sticking in my brain
in light of the latest developments. It's almost surreal as it's reminiscent of
what I've told my readers to watch for for a very long time.
Joel wrote,
on August 27: "Not since the fall of the Roman Empire has Rome stationed
military forces in or near the Holy Land. But the current government in Rome has
just formally offered to lead the U.N. peacekeeping force that will be stationed
in southern Lebanon, on the border with Israel."
Could the Prophet Daniel
have called it any more perfectly than he did when he said, as seen in Daniel
9:26-27:
And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but
not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the
city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the
end of the war desolations are determined.
And he shall confirm the
covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the
sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations
he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined
shall be poured upon the desolate.
The people of the prince that shall
come (the Antichrist) destroyed the city of Jerusalem in AD 70. It was the
Romans, as in the Roman empire. Now, as Joel Rosenberg put it so eloquently,
Rome, which hasn't stationed military forces in or near the Holy Land since the
fall of the old Roman empire, is now going to do just that! These forces, unlike
their ancient predecessors, will be from a revived Roman empire which was
miraculously prophesied to come long, long ago and is now here! Isn't it amazing
to see it unfolding before our very eyes - a reminder that our God is alive, on
the throne, and in control?
That brings us to what the "prince that
shall come" is somehow going to do upon his arrival on the world stage. He is
going to confirm (or make strong) a covenant of peace in the Middle East seven
precise years in length. When he does, he will somehow do so "with many" - a
short phrase that has a lot of potential implications right now.
Could
the "many" of Daniel's prophecy be UNIFIL - the United Nations Interim Force in
Lebanon? Could the "many" of Daniel's prophecy be the Quartet of Russia, the
United States, the United Nations and the European Union, which the EU would
like to reconvene as soon as possible? Could the "many" be a combination of the
two, working as a whole under the leadership of a prince (or leader) of Roman
descent?
The days ahead are going to be astonishing to witness! Of that
I'm certain as all prophetic indicators seem to be pointing toward something BIG
happening, potentially in the very near future. It's not if something big is on
the way, it's when!
The EU's Javier Solana, as I've documented in the
past, has been given the mandate to get the ball rolling on bringing a lasting
peace to the Middle East. To his credit, as I've noted on a number of occasions,
he has somehow managed to stay on friendly terms with most everyone in the
Middle East, from the Palestinians to the Israelis, the Iranians and Syrians,
the latter two being no small task by any means!
If the Antichrist is out
there as I write this commentary (and I wholly believe he is), conditions for
his advent are seeming more and more favorable all the time, especially at this
moment when the revived Roman empire he will someday lead is in the driver's
seat in terms of the pursuit of Middle East peace --- and Middle East
peacekeeping.
Is it just me or does it seem the final pieces of the
prophetic jigsaw puzzle are ready to be snapped into place?
Come quickly,
Lord Jesus! Rapture us out of here!
````````````````````````
Those
Middle East peacekeepers? They'd better be "robust!"
by Michael G.
Mickey
(8-16-06)
The Age is reporting that EU foreign policy chief
Javier Solana hopes to see international peacekeeping troops begin deploying in
Lebanon this week or early next. Some, however, are suggesting he's being
"hopelessly optimistic" as the process of getting a force of thousands on the
ground in the region to provide the Lebanese army with support - the same
Lebanese army that has done little to nothing to stop Hezbollah - is going to
take some time, potentially weeks or even months.
UN spokesperson
Stephane Dujarric is quoted in the article as saying, "We have no formal,
specific commitments from troop contributors, but obviously we're continuing
those discussions. We have one leg up in that there is already a UN force in
south Lebanon."
Already a UN force in south Lebanon? Where were these
protectors of peace before the Hezbollah-Israeli conflict started? I don't know,
but it's clear to me they weren't doing a whole lot of peacekeeping wherever
they were! If they had been, what just happened in the Middle East wouldn't
have, right? Even so, we're now supposed to believe they're going to do what
they were originally placed there to do but didn't.
Can the European
Union, the up-and-coming beast of Bible prophecy that it is, somehow transform
the UN's glorified boy scouts into a legitimate fighting force to be reckoned
with in the region in the event that Hezbollah refuses to disarm, which we know
for sure is going to be the case? That's the question at this point, at least
from my perspective.
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana is quoted in
an EU Observer article as saying "he expects a quick deployment of troops to
southern Lebanon and that troops from Europe will make the force
"robust"."
Based on what I'm seeing, the forces that are going to be
needed to keep the delusional Arab-Muslim enemies of Israel at bay, in light of
their present mindset, are going to have to be both robust indeed! Not only
that, they're going to have to be ready and willing to pull the trigger on the
many scofflaws in the region who have learned that peacekeeping forces in the
Middle East have traditionally been little other than paper tigers. In other
words, Kofi, Solana and the international community are going to have to knuckle
up to be effective. The question is: Do they have the wherewithal to do
so?
Appeasement of evil never works
As I've stated on numerous
occasions, appeasement of evil is never effective. Thus the reason I say the
peacekeepers to be deployed in the Middle East are also going to have to be
capable of being warmakers, if necessary, to be effective!
Evil takes
whatever leeway its given then seeks to gain more ground. We all see this in our
own walks of faith! If we resist the devil, as we're told to in James 4:7, he
will flee. If we give an inch to him, however, he'll take a mile - and so it is
with the present leadership of many nations in the Middle East, as we've seen
exemplified time and time again throughout the history of the region, which is
similar to what we're seeing and hearing now.
What the international
community achieved by telling Israel to stop attacking those bent on its
destruction - an effort on Israel's part to prevent greater bloodshed in the
future - was bolster its enemies to, once again, threaten the destruction of the
nation of Israel, reminiscent of Psalm 83:4: They have said, Come, and let us
cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in
remembrance.
Due to the anti-Semitic attitude of the international
community, Israel's enemies are feeling safe and shooting off at the mouth at
every opportunity, expressing what should be of great concern to everyone but,
oddly, isn't viewed to be nearly as dangerous as Israel defending itself from
attack! Am I surprised? No.
Syria's Bashar Assad
In the aftermath
of the UN ceasefire, Syria's Bashar Assad, who'd been as quiet as a church mouse
during the fighting, has suddenly developed a boldness very similar in tone to
that of his cohort in Iran, "Quackmood" Ahmadinejad as I like to refer to him.
As seen in a Haaretz article, the following is some of what Assad has had to say
in recent days:
"Israel has been trying for decades to gain acceptance in
the region. What Israel should know is that every generation has more hatred
toward it than the generation before.
Hatred is not a good word. We do
not hate and we do not encourage hatred. But Israel did not leave room in our
region except for hatred.
We tell them [Israelis] that after tasting
humiliation in the latest battles, your weapons are not going to protect you -
not your planes, or missiles or even your nuclear bombs... The future
generations in the Arab world will find a way to defeat Israel.
They
[Israel] should know that they are before a historic crossroads. Either they
move toward peace and the return of [Arab] rights or they move in the direction
of continued instability until one generation decides the matter."
The
one thing Assad got right amid all his rhetoric was that there's going to be a
generation, perhaps even this one, that is going to see the matter of Middle
East peace decided --- to the extent that there will be no question left as to
Israel's legitimacy in the region. We'll get to that a bit later.
Iran's
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
The Seattle Times is reporting that Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is saying that "Hezbollah has "hoisted the banner of
victory" over Israel and toppled U.S.-led plans for the Middle East." Not only
that, he is saying "God's promises have come true."
"On one side,"
Ahmadinejad in quoted as saying, "it's corrupt powers of the criminal U.S. and
Britain and the Zionists ... with modern bombs and planes. And on the other side
is a group of pious youth relying on God."
What Ahmadinejad is doing, in
typical fashion, is fueling the anti-Christian and anti-Semitic sentiments of
Muslims around the world, exhorting them to continue their jihad against all who
do not bow before Allah. But, hey, at least the fighting in Lebanon is over,
right?
Resist the devil and he will flee
When Israel crossed the
border into Lebanon it was well-justified in doing so, Hezbollah having drawn
first blood. Having been attacked in its own lands, Israel responded in kind,
demonstrating its ability and willingness to fight an organization that has long
sought and succeeded to kill innocent civilians, targeting the innocent almost
exclusively during this recent conflict.
Whose side was God on in this
instance? Contrary to what Mahmoud Ahmadinejad believes, He was on Israel's side
and clearly so for we know that God hates and considers an abomination hands
that shed innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17).
By stopping Israel from
defending its women and children, the international community gave license to
Satan, the god of this world, to stir even greater hostility in the region - and
he is doing so, prompting the gun shy international community to press harder
than ever for peace to come to the Middle East, which we know will, in the end,
lead to the advent of the Antichrist, as foretold in Daniel 9:26-27.
The
revived Roman empire (the European Union), which will give rise to the
Antichrist through a seven-year covenant between Israel and its enemies, is in
the catbird's seat in Middle East peacemaking at present, openly planning on
playing a prominent role in halting what seems to be a never-ending cycle of
conflict and ceasefire in the Middle East.
Will the European Union, as
foreign policy chief Javier Solana suggests, be able to transform the UN
peacekeeping forces in Lebanon from the glorified boy scouts that they are to a
"robust" force capable of calming the region? Time will tell.
Will the
recent crisis, combined with the European Union's prominent role in resolving
it, provide a leader of Roman descent an opportunity to confirm peace in the
Middle East? Time will tell concerning that as well, but one thing is clear:
Resolving the "root-cause" of Middle East crises, the lingering
Palestinian-Israeli conflict, is on everyone's mind, as demonstrated by a
Jerusalem Post article, the title of which is "Jordan: Time ripe to renew
peacemaking with Israel."
Isn't it ironic that refusing to deal with evil
only makes evil stronger? By refusing to allow Israel to resist the devil that
is terrorism, the international community has unintentionally heated things up
even more in the Middle East, the end result being an even greater desire on the
part of the international community to resolve the purported "root-cause" of all
terrorism - the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
What the world fails to
realize is that by refusing to meet evil head on, it has raised the likelihood
that the most evil dictator the world will ever know will soon arrive on the
world's diplomatic stage, ironically as a peacemaker, in a plot twist that only
true believers in the Word of God (and those witnessed to by believing
Christians) have the benefit of knowing about in advance.
If the European
Union helps the impotent United Nations to bring even moderate success in Middle
East peacekeeping to Lebanon, keep a close watch out for indications that a
seemingly workable peace plan is being considered as a strong, strong sign that
our redemption draweth nigh.
While no one knows the hour nor the day of
Christ's return for His Church, what we do know is that a clarion call for peace
and safety will come in the Middle East which will be followed by a peace
covenant seven years in length. Upon the confirmation of this covenant taking
place, sudden destruction will come upon the world in the form of the
Tribulation Period. Conditions on the earth will deteriorate rapidly, reaching
nightmarish proportions as the evil empire of Antichrist spreads like a cancer.
Finally, as mankind's sinfulness brings it to the brink of extinction, the Lord
will gather all nations to the valley of decision, the plains of Megiddo, as
foretold in Joel 3:14, where the Lord, as seen in Zechariah 14:3, will resolve
the root-cause of all the world's problems!
That day is drawing near.
Keep looking up!
should set off alarm sirens. I just received some electrifying intelligence
data. First, from the Debka-Net-Weekly’s briefing. And second, from some
personal intelligence sources (I carefully guard) that confirm Debka’s
report.
Russia, Iran and Syria have entered a defense pact that
is in the process of altering the balance of power in the entire Middle East.
Russia’s part in the pact has been kept relatively secret for a long time. But
the facts reveal a long steady Russian commitment to the Iranian nuclear program
and arms supply to Syria.
A Mossad General shared with me in confidence
that he had personally traced the hiring and importation to Iran 283 of the
defunct Soviet Union’s top nuclear and missile scientists. This meeting took
place in February of 1991.
I shared this information with no one until
nine months later when it was first made public (although strangely not followed
up by the mainstream media). All Russian leaders continued and expanded this
agreement to this day, especially our supposed friend, Vladimir Putin.
Russia has helped the Iranian nuclear program from its inception.
Hundreds of Russian scientists with their families live around the some twenty
scattered nuclear related facilities. Russian ‘Spetznaz soldiers’ (special
forces) guard all the key nuclear facilities.
Iran has had some help on
missile development from the North Koreans. But even their missiles are based
upon Russian designs. The unmistakable culprit in China, North Korea and Iran’s
nuclear development has been the Soviet Union and continued by Russia.
The Soviet Union’s motivation for helping China and North Korea was
primarily ideological. Russia’s primary reason is hard cash, although now, it is
taking on a strategic importance as well.
So here are the disturbing hard
facts about what is taking place in what can only be viewed as a dangerous
anti-western strategy in the form of a Russian-Syrian-Iranian Axis.
The
first part of this strategy was, as I said above, Russia enabling Iran to
produce deliverable nuclear warheads.
The second part was the forming of the
recent mutual defense pact between Iran and Syria. The foreign ministers of Iran
and Syria, Mostafa Najjar and Hassan Turkmani, signed the pact in Tehran on June
15th, 2006.
Debka’s intelligence sources unveiled a disturbing clause in
the agreement that was reported to President Bush by US Intelligence. This
report disclosed:
“The clause speaks of more than one battery of upgraded
SHEHAB-3 surface-to-surface missiles to be deployed on the 13,000-foot Jabal Ash
Shanin ridges towering over central Syria.
“The latest Syrian-Iranian
exchanges are reported by DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s intelligence sources as auguring
the early dispatch from Tehran of a deputation of officers to take up position
at al Qadnus, east of the Syrian port of Tartus, and along the road linking the
port to Jabal Ash Shanin.
“This team will act as the vanguard of the Iranian
missile force to operate the missiles station, will check out the ground and fix
its precise location.
“Senior intelligence officials warned the US
President that this deployment would not just throw the entire Middle East
balance of strength out of kilter, but directly menace American bases as far as
West and East Europe and the Central Asian republics, including those located on
the shores of the oil-rich Caspian Sea.”
This puts virtually all of
Europe within range of the soon-coming nuclear tipped Iranian missiles — and at
the whim of Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Remember him? He is the one
who believes Allah has chosen him to fulfill an “end time” Muslim prophecy by
starting a world apocalypse in which the long-awaited ‘Mahdi’ (Muslim Messiah)
will appear and subject all survivors to Allah.
As if this isn’t bad
enough news, there is something even more alarming developing within this new
axis of evil.
Russia is now making moves to protect Syria and its Shehab-3
missile base. This is what DEBKA-News-Weekly reported:
“Our sources have
observed the Russians dredging the port of TARTUS, Syria’s second most important
Mediterranean port, with a view to expanding their logistical supply point there
to a fully-equipped naval base, possibly to serve the Black Sea Fleet warships
when they are redeployed from the Ukrainian port of Sevastopol. It is designed
to be built up into the permanent base for the fleet led by the RFS Moskva (TG
Flag) missile cruiser and the RFS Azov landing ship within the next three
years.
“February 27, 2006, DEBKA file’s exclusive sources found the
MOSKVA and AZOV heading into the Mediterranean on Feb. 5, escorted by a Russian
military tug, to take part in the a NATO marine exercise Operation Active
Endeavor, which was to practice counter-measures against nuclear and other WMD
smugglers. NATO chiefs and American generals in particular, attached great
importance to Russia’s participation in the exercise. NATO secretary Jaap de
Hoop Scheffer had intended to make the gesture of being the North Atlantic
Organization chief to visit a Russian flagship.
“The visit was cancelled
when it was discovered that the three Russian fleet vessels would be paying an
official call at the Syrian port of Latakia.
“The arrival of the Russian task
force in TARTUS in March marked the opening of the Russian base. Our military
experts note that the Missile Cruiser MOSKVA is armed with the weapons, radar
and electronic gear of an [aircraft] carrier hunter.
“The American
intelligence briefing for the US President further disclosed that sophisticated
Russian air defense systems are to be installed for the dual purpose of
protecting the TARTUS NAVAL BASE and the SHEHAB-3 missile emplacements.
DEBKA-Net-Weekly’s military sources identify the system as the S-300PMU-2. It
will be operated by Russian military crews and not put in Syrian
hands.
“This air defense system is comparable to the American Patriot,
but is more effective.
“The version to be deployed in Syria is geared to
intercept ballistic missiles. It has the great advantage of being ready to fire
five minutes after receiving orders …”
This explains why Iran has
blatantly defied the world and continued developing nuclear warheads, which are
closer to becoming operational than we dare believe.
Second, it explains the
reason why the Iranian and Syrian defense ministers signed a mutual defense pact
last June 15th.
Third, it gives the reason for Hezbollah launching a war
with Israel when they did. It was to divert the G-8 leaders from seriously
debating action about the Iranian nuclear threat. And Vladimir Putin played a
masterful game of concealing what his forces are doing.
Fourth, it
explains why Syria and Iran are unafraid to openly support Hezbollah in their
war with Israel and support terrorist that target US troops in Iraq. Russia is
in the background guaranteeing their protection.
Debka reports that they
found data indicating that Russia helped persuade Syrian President Bashir Assad
to accept the placement of Iranian missiles on their soil by hinting that “it is
part of their own deepening strategic plans for Syria.
What is most
important is that all this is setting up Ezekiel’s 2600-year-old prophecy in
Ezekiel chapter 38. Persia, or modern Iran, is listed a chief among the Muslim
nations Russia will lead into an all-out assault against Israel. This is
predicted to be the first battle of the war of Armageddon.
The one nation
that does not seem to be listed is Syria. I believe this is because as a result
of actions it is now taking against Israel, Isaiah’s prophecy about Damascus in
the last days is going to be soon fulfilled.
Twenty Seven hundred years
ago, Isaiah warned, “An oracle concerning Damascus: "See, Damascus will no
longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins … In that day the glory of
Jacob will fade; the fat of his body will waste away.” (Isaiah 17:1, 4
NIV)
To establish the time of this event, look at these factors. First,
Damascus is one of the oldest continuously populated cities on earth. It has
never been totally destroyed – yet.
Second, it is in a context of events
that lead up to the catastrophes that precede the Lord Jesus’ Second Coming.
Third, it is far enough away from that event that Jacob (Israel) is enduring
terrible circumstances. Fourth, Syria and the tribal name of its forefathers are
not mentioned in the Russian led Muslim Confederacy that launches Armageddon in
the middle of the Tribulation.
All of this leads me to believe that
Damascus will be destroyed before the Tribulation begins. I believe that
Damascus is about to so threaten Israel’s existence by either launching or
furnishing bio-chemical weapons or radioactive dirty bombs, that Israel will
nuke them. Israel has sworn that it will implement the Samson-Option against any
nation that attacks them with any form of weapons of mass destruction. That
means a thermonuclear strike. This may soon happen to Syria.
This in turn
will so terrify the world, that it will be ripe to embrace the antichrist when
he is unveiled. And that could be very, very soon.
Thank God that you
have received the gift of pardon that Jesus purchased by dying in your place
under the judgment for your sins. You will be miraculously snatched up to heaven
to meet Him before the antichrist is revealed.
But if you haven’t
received this free gift of pardon and accepted Jesus into your life, now is the
time. Don’t put it off. It is like playing Russian roulette with eternity. Pray
right now and receive your forgiveness. Ask Jesus Christ to come into your life
and make it what He wants it to be. He will give you new desires, new joy and
purpose for living. Do it now.
Will
uncontrollable consequences come in the Middle East?
by Michael G.
Mickey
(7-14-06)
Early this morning, I was stirred from a
dream-filled sleep that involved a wide variety of imagery and emotions. My time
in bed last night had a little bit of everything it seemed. Images of war and
the Rapture of the Church, along with emotions of sorrow, fear, and even
uncontainable joy. Being unable to sleep, I came downstairs and typed out the
day's first commentary, "Playing With Fire." I wrote, in
part:
Hour-by-hour, I wonder what is going to take place next. The one
thing I'm becoming certain of is Damascus, at the very least, is majorly playing
with fire. The question in my mind is just how much fire Damascus may be playing
with, if you follow my thinking. Are they playing with enough to get themselves
singed or incinerated? Time will tell.
Having completed a long day at
work, I returned home to find the usual awaiting me - a mountain of e-mail.
Within that daily mountain of assorted items, it seems I always find a few
things that just leap out at me. Tonight one of those items was the following
headline: EU worries Mideast conflict could spread to Syria. Isn't it
interesting, even surreal, that this issue, which is on the mind of so many of
us holding a biblical worldview, is also on the collective mind of the European
Union's highly secular leadership? Amazing, in my opinion!
In the Reuters
story bearing the headline above, Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja of Finland is
quoted as saying, "We consider the situation to be very bad and there is still
the possibility that it could get worse and that the conflict could spread,
especially to Syria. This is in no way desirable. The consequences could be
really uncontrollable."
Will uncontrollable consequences come in the
latest Middle East skirmish? Time will tell, but one thing is certain. Even the
secular world knows the situation could spiral out of control at the drop of a
hat - all the more reason why the Church needs to hide itself behind the cross,
lifting Israel up in prayer before our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Truly, we
may be on the verge of a momentous event of earth-shaking
proportions!
The Reuters story additionally speaks of the EU's Javier
Solana heading to the troubled region, as well as representatives of the United
States, Russia, and the United Nations. Added to the mix, in the midst of
potential calamity, the world's most storied peacemaking team in recent history
- the Quartet - may meet in an attempt to prevent a catastrophe in the region,
bringing to mind Daniel 9:26-27 which foretells the advent of the Antichrist.
If, upon reading all of this, the hair on the neck of every Bible
prophecy-believing Christian isn't standing on end, it certainly ought to be as
this moment holds a great deal of potential to shape future events. In fact,
some are suggesting it already is, Bill Wilson of Koenig's International News
for one.
In a commentary dated 7-13-06, Wilson wrote, in part:
The
United States has publicly pointed the finger of blame for the terrorist attacks
against Israel squarely at Iran and Syria, but ultimately there is a powerful
source of unrest that is responsible for the financial, technological and
military sustenance of Syria, Iran, Hamas and Hezbollah that has yet been
unnamed—Russia.
Russia has successfully avoided public blame for the
situation in the Middle East, but its ability to control and hide finances and
intellectual property transfer has resulted in a steady supply of weapons,
finances and technology to Syria and Iran, which in turn, empower Hezbollah and
Hamas. These are the foreshadows of the invasion of Israel led by Russia and
Iran as prophesied in Ezekiel 38. The United States should give no ground to
Russia, but rather should expose and condemn its clandestine support of
terrorism and international chaos. 2 John 1:7 says, “For many deceivers are
entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh.
This is a deceiver and an anti-Christ.”
An item in today's news is especially
supportive of Wilson's thought process on Russia's involvement in all this. A
Russian News and Information Agency article states "Russia is not intending to
propose initiatives on resolving the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, but
will use its authority in the Arab world to stop the violence."
Here we
have Russia, the ringleader of the future Gog-Magog invasion, admitting for all
to see that it has the authority to resolve the conflict between Israel and
Lebanon, which raises the following question in my mind: If Russia has the
authority to resolve the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, why didn't Russia,
particularly as a member of the Quartet, prevent the conflict from coming to
this point in the first place? Could it be that Russia has a clandestine plan
which, like its future Gog-Magog allies, envisions a map of the Middle East
without Israel on it? Could be! If so, its role as a member of the Quartet is to
impede peace, rather than lead the region closer to it.
Russia is up to
its eyeballs in involvement with Iran, as well as Syria, as I've documented on
numerous occasions using information readily available in the news headlines of
our world today. So have many others. Because this is true, none of this should
be overly surprising to hear and yet it is. Why? Because I find myself in
absolute awe of the accuracy of the Word of God as we see Russia asserting that
its voice in the region is so powerful and effective that its authority over
these rogue entities can still the inferno we see the region heading toward!
If Russia indeed has the authority to resolve the present conflict in
the Middle East, which many world leaders fear is eventually going to see Syria
enter into the fray, Putin and company better get on the telephone and call
Assad, Mashaal, Ahmadinejad and all the other kooks engaged in the dangerous
game they're playing with Israel. If Russia doesn't use its mighty authority
quickly, it may soon find itself minus a good friend in the region -
Damascus.
I say that because Damascus is nowhere to be found when the
presently-plotting Russians and its horde of Arab brothers make one of the
boldest military moves in human history in the prophetic future - the future
Gog-Magog invasion attempt described in Ezekiel 38 & 39.
If Damascus
is to be around in the prophetic future when Ezekiel's prophecy is fulfilled,
why, oh why, do we not see Damascus jumping on the Islamic bandwagon, seeking to
destroy the nation of Israel from the face of the earth?
Perhaps, just
perhaps, it's because uncontrollable consequences are part of God's plan to
judge the #2 resort spot of terrorist dirtbags from around the globe - Damascus,
Syria.
If tomorrow Damascus should make a fatal mistake and be left a
ruinous heap, I wonder how quickly the Muslim world would find itself ready to
discuss a long-term covenant of peace with Israel which the international
community, under the leadership of a certain prophesied prince (or leader) of
Roman descent, would be more than willing to confirm?
Piece by piece, the
prophetic jigsaw puzzle is coming together. While it's difficult to impossible
to know what's going to take place next, what we're seeing take place on many
fronts is extreme prophetic posturing, precisely why I tell my readers to keep
looking up!
Who, after all, knows what tomorrow will bring? Only God.
Now it's actually been said
by Michael G.
Mickey
(7-3-06)
Isaiah 17:1: The burden of Damascus. Behold,
Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous
heap.
As the situation in the Middle East grows increasingly tense,
Israel, as seen in a Zaman Online article, has threatened to strike Damascus in
its efforts to take out Hamas leadership being given safe haven there. According
to the article, Israeli Public Security Minister Avi Dichter has made claims the
Israelis know the locations of HAMAS and Islamic Jihad leaders in Syria and will
not hesitate to kill them.
Syria's response to Israel's statement is
found in a Middle East Online article, which opens as follows:
Syria
vowed Thursday to defend itself after Israel threatened to kill Hamas militants
based in Damascus and flew warplanes over a Syrian presidential
palace.
Since the two articles referred to above have been published, the
rhetoric has continued to the extent anything could happen at any
moment!
For a long, long time I've hypothesized that Isaiah's prophecy of
Damascus' utter destruction may ultimately be fulfilled by the nation of Israel
striking Damascus due to its support and ongoing comforting of known terrorist
organizations. Now it's actually been said by Israel. They may strike Damascus.
If so, what will happen when they do? I don't know, but it could be that God's
patience with Syria's Assad-led government is waning. The Father doesn't care
much for hands that shed innocent blood, as seen in Proverbs 6:17. Government
powers that protect hands that shed innocent blood can taint a city and all the
inhabitants thereof, as seen in Jeremiah 26:15. Syria's antics are placing
Damascus and all its inhabitants in great danger.
Judgment may be waiting
in the wings.
And then there's the mark of the beast to consider...
In an unrelated end times matter, Citibank has now, in a preview of
things to come, released an RFID credit card, according to a Gozmodo.com
article, which describes them as follows:
The MasterCard PayPass looks
like a ordinary keychain, but the embedded RFID chip replaces the traditional
magnetic strip found on regular credit cards. Once waved in front of a PayPass
reader, the user’s credit card is automatically charged.
You can place
these "credit cards" on your key ring, as seen in a photo in the article, and
swipe and pay, just like people are going to be doing in the Tribulation Period
to come when these chips (or a very similar technology) are placed inside human
bodies, tagging them like cattle. Far-fetched? Not at all.
Demonstrating
how those of us who believe in a literal interpretation of the Word of God are
mocked in a world that has forgotten its God, the following is found in the
article:
Many have gone to great lengths to protect themselves from the
tentacle-like reach of RFID technology because they’re crazy concerned about the
risks that the technology brings.
Note that the word crazy is striked
through and replaced with concerned in the excerpt above , a not-so-subtle jab
at those of us who know where this technology is carrying us. If you think I'm
being presumptive at all in stating that was the author's intended meaning, look
no firther than his opening paragraph, which I've saved for last (emphasis added
mine):
People who claim RFID marks the end of the world should probably
step aside for a moment now that Citibank is starting to release credit cards
that use the radio technology.
For some time now, I, along with many
others, have been preaching that RFID technology, particularly the kind we see
being used in this instance, is prepping us for the coming mark of the beast
which the future government of Antichrist will require everyone to obtain in
order to buy or sell.
Yes, I've been called crazy a time or two, but I'm
okay with it. The joke, ironically, is on those who laugh at me. Why? Because
I've been stating all along that we're being prepped for the mark of the beast -
a technology that will someday prevent those who do not have it from buying or
selling. Not surprisingly in the least, the RFID chip just became a financial
instrument! We just moved one step closer to the mark of the beast described in
Revelation 13:16-17!
Not only have I oft said that the RFID chip may
well play a role in the prophesied mark of the beast to come, I've indicated, in
accordance with Scripture, that those who oppose the mark of the beast's
implementation will be persecuted horribly. Now that's beginning to unfold as
well, even on this side of the Rapture!
The undeniable intentions of
darkness have been revealed along with the birth of the RFID credit card. I pray
no one who reads this commentary misses it because it's right there in the
article.
"People who claim RFID marks the end of the world should
probably step aside for a moment..."
Now it's actually been
said.
If the Father will allow, I, for one, am perfectly willing to "step
aside for a moment." All I'm waiting on is for Christ's spoken invitation to
come. Until that takes place, however, those who deny the Word of God are going
to keep hearing from me and squirming in frustration at how right I am time and
time again, not because I'm a really smart guy but rather because I believe
every word in the Word of God, which continues to prove itself perfectly
accurate in charting the future of mankind, much to the chagrin of the
wicked.
Come quickly, Lord Jesus!
Is the
EU Beast preparing to pounce?
by Michael G.
Mickey
(6-21-06)
Anyone who has ever owned a cat or watched a cat
approach its prey knows when it is about to pounce. Unlike most animals
preparing to act in aggression while hunting, the cat lowers itself to the
ground, making its stature seem smaller than it is. The cat does this because it
knows that the eye of its prey doesn't realize the purpose of its movements.
While the cat appears outwardly to be near prone, its muscles are being postured
for an attack. At the precise moment when the cat sees its prey relax, it
pounces. This is what I believe is presently taking place where the revived
Roman empire, today's European Union which is referred to as a beast in Bible
prophecy, is concerned.
As I highlighted in a recent commentary, Israel's
Shimon Peres, as documented in a Haaretz article, is stating Israel and the
Palestinians are closer to peace than they've been in the past 50 years. On the
heels of that comment being made, European External Relations Commissioner
Benita Ferrero-Waldner has told The Jerusalem Post the Israelis and Palestinians
need to "sit down and talk and go for a long-lasting peace."
On the
evening of June 17, as seen in a Telegraph article, European Union leaders, at
the Brussels European summit from all 25 EU member states agreed to pool their
assets - police, civil protection and military - and place them at the disposal
of Javier Solana, the EU's foreign minister-in-waiting. This makes Javier
Solana, in my opinion, the most powerful man in the revived Roman empire bar
none!
In the aftermath of Solana being given control of the EU's
anti-terror squad, we find the following in an excerpt from the Jerusalem Post
article (emphasis added mine):
The EU presidency, currently held by
Austria, has drawn up a "manual" of forces and assets which can be called on
following an attack in any country.
Last night, Eurosceptics reacted with
outrage. Chris Heaton-Harris, the Tory Euro-MP, said: "This is another example
of the Soviet-style regime which rides roughshod over democratic votes in France
and the Netherlands."
In both countries voters said No to the
constitution and, specifically, No to a continent-wide anti-terror force.
This is meant to be a time for reflection - but instead the EU is cherry
picking from the constitution.
Does the EU presidency's manual indicate
the anti-terror forces under Solana's direction may only be called upon during
an attack on an EU country or does the text which indicates the EU's anti-terror
squad can respond to an attack in any country literally mean any country? If so,
the end times plot laid out in Bible prophecy is potentially thickening with the
formation of the European Union's so-called "anti-terror squad."
In 2004,
a BBC report told us the EU was on its way to developing a rapid deployment
force, which we have since learned will be under the leadership of Javier
Solana, much as the present EU anti-terror squad is going to be. In review, I
want to highlight what the EU's rapid deployment force, according to the 2004
report, was designed to do, as seen in the following excerpts from same
(emphasis added mine):
European Union defence ministers have agreed to
set up a military rapid reaction force, to be deployed at short notice to
conflicts around the world.
Ministers expect the first of the battle groups
to be operational by next year, with eight more by 2007.
"Battle groups will
be capable of dealing with a range of peace support and humanitarian tasks," Mr
Hoon said.
"They are particularly intended for situations where an early
intervention with a highly capable battle group-size force could deal with an
emerging crisis."
Rapid reaction forces could be deployed to fill a gap
before UN peacekeepers can be deployed, as a French-led operation did in the
Bunia region of eastern Congo earlier this year.
Is it just my suspicious
nature at work or could there be more to this EU anti-terror squad than meets
the eye, especially during this time when the West is simultaneously engaged in
a war on terror, a struggle to keep Iran nuke-free, and committed to the
implementation of the Quartet's Road Map peace plan?
Could the
preservation of a Middle East peace covenant between the Israelis and
Palestinians, which many think may presently be attainable if the impact of
terrorist factions associated with the Palestinian side of the conflict can be
minimized, be on the agenda of Javier Solana's new EU anti-terror squad? Time
will tell, but if a prince (or leader) of Roman descent within the European
Union's hierarchy has ever had the means to actually confirm (or strengthen) a
covenant of peace in the Middle East in fulfillment of Daniel 9:27, I think this
is it --- at least to this point.
While I would never be so bold as to
suggest the iron is presently so hot the advent of the Antichrist is a certainty
at this point, day by day we see the call for Middle East peace gathering
momentum as a revived Roman empire, like a beast preparing to pounce on its
prey, continues to quietly sharpen its claws.
Who knows what tomorrow may
bring? Only our Heavenly Father, which is why I keep a close watch on the
militarization of the EU (outside its NATO commitments and functions), the
growing influence of the European Union's diplomatic services, the troubled
Middle East, and the sky!
If the Beast is preparing to pounce in
fulfillment of Bible prophecy, the Rapture of the Church is right around the
prophetic corner!
al Qaeda terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed
in an early morning (U.S. time) air strike. The bombing was carried out
by two F-16 warplanes which dropped two 500-pound bombs on a hideout north of
Baghdad where he was holding a meeting with seven other top level militants.
There were no survivors from the blast.
"Bush hailed Zarqawi's
death as a "severe blow to Al-Qaeda" and a victory in the war on terror, adding
that it presented "an opportunity for Iraq's new government to turn the tide on
this struggle." To go to the article at Yahoo News Click Here.
I
applaud the death of any terrorist whether it be by American or other forces in
the fight against terrorism. I do however feel it's time to start scaling
back troops from the region if it is possible, but certainly, I do not have
access to the information that is necessary to make such a call. I can
only shake my head at the civilian armchair military analysts around the world
who pretend to think they know what's best in this crucial fight. The
truth is, this is a very wicked world where difficult decisions are made every
day. Not only can't we handle the truth, if we knew it, it would simply
scare us to death. Whether you like President Bush or not you have to
respect the fact that he is fighting a war that no other president has had to
fight.
As far as this being a major blow to terrorism...terrorist come
and go and somebody else will step into Mr. Zarqawi's shoes. Don't look
for a prolonged halt to insurgent attacks.
A reader of mine sent me a
recent article that claims Iran is about to join a military and political bloc
that will ultimately challenge the U.S. This is long overdue and
prophetic, and will likely be the bloc that will attack Israel in the last days
(Ezekiel 38 & 39). Here is an excerpt from the article:
"U.S.
analysts think Russia and China already are using the Shanghai Cooperation
Organization (SCO) -- which links the two with four Central Asian neighbors --
to try to squeeze the United States out of the region.
SCO foreign
ministers said at an earlier meeting that consideration is being given to
extending membership to four countries with observer status -- Iran, Pakistan,
India and Mongolia. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to attend
the summit on June 15 in Shanghai.
Expansion of the organization into
Iran and other countries could make it "an enormous power," said David Wall, a
professor at the University of Cambridge's East Asia Institute."
http://www.washtimes.com/world/20060604-103052-2402r.htm
This is
certainly no partnership the U.S. or any other nation should take lightly.
Look for this bloc of nations to develop very quickly into a major
political and military force. This alliance could even change the plans
of U.S. and/or Israel from attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
Calm From the
Chaos . . .
Jesus Christ: The Shelter in the Time of Storm
It all
sounds pretty scary. And it is. But think about this in context. In THIS
generation, amid the earthquakes, famines, wars and pestilences, solar storms,
weather anomalies, ethnic unrest and a global war between Islam and
Judeo-Christianity, that the front pages are filled with predictions of the end
of the world.
If it isn't global destruction by global
warming, it is by runaway asteroids, provided we don't bring about our own
global demise via nuclear, chemical or biological warfare.
We have mad
Islamic clerics with the potential ability to unleash global destruction
publicly announcing their devotion to their soon-expected Messiah, the 12th
Imam, as the world gears up for a coming global clash of civilizations between
Judeo-Christianity and the Islamic world.
And that?s if the clash
doesn?t erupt first from so
